ELP Retreat Day 1


Was up around 6:30AM to shower and meet the group by 7:15AM. Surprise surprise the high ropes course was on campus!! This place is beyond huge! But moving on to the course itself. I managed to climb the Leap of Faith with no problems, but couldn't handle standing up. The rest of the course was the usual. I fell twice! But I was so proud of the way I handled it without freaking out. I became super close with Sarah, and overall with the team because of the ways we had to help each other across. The team-building that happened on the course was thorough and extensive. It wasn't until we were of the course that we were told we'd been operating in 97º  heat advisory!

Afterwards, we drove into the mountains for about an hour to the YMCA cabin which was adorable! It was old fashioned and crafted from wood; we were in love.

We played a few different games to get to know each other, and learn everybody's names. Two especially moving activities were "4 Corners", and "Post Secret" because they were deeply personal. After the evening "officially" wrapped, we headed to an abandoned barn for games and scary stories. Then the party moved to mine, Sherry, Sarah, and Amanda's room where we stayed up until 3AM talking, playing Paranoia, and listening to music.
